It's all they've got

They cannot argue the substance, they cannot gainsay what these folks are saying, they cannot deny that Cheeto Mussolini made wildly inappropriate attempts to leverage foreign powers into US elections.

They cannot do anything but manufacture conspiracy theories and question the patriotism of career (and in some cases, like Vindman, highly decorated) military and NatSec officials who have done more to promote US national security in the last year than POTUS can ever do. This risks resulting in 2019's version of the "Have you no sense of decency" moment during the McCarthy hearings.
